The highly anticipated Nollywood movie Ajosepo (The Gathering) held its exclusive, star-studded premiere on May 24, 2026, at the Filmhouse IMAX Cinema in Lekki, Lagos. The premiere featured an “Owambe” (traditional party) theme where guests dazzled in elegant traditional attire to celebrate Yoruba culture and cinema.

Dressed for a celebration worthy of royalty, the stars arrived, showing richly woven fabrics, embroidered aso-oke looks to dramatic geles and regal accessories. The event transformed into a full-scale display of Nigerian party fashion at its finest — the kind of glamour that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into an extravagant Lagos wedding celebration.

Leading the night’s standout fashion moments was Timini Egbuson, who plays groom-to-be Jide in the upcoming film. Rather than opting for the expected shimmering fabrics often associated with owambe styling, the actor embraced a more refined traditional aesthetic. A matching red fila added contrast to the ensemble, while a white ìrùkere completed the regal finish.

Co-star Bolaji Ogunmola, who portrays Mary, leaned fully into bridal elegance with a beautifully tailored cream aso-oke ensemble. Her blouse featured softly exaggerated sleeves accented with intricate purple rope embroidery along the neckline and cuffs, while the matching layered skirt echoed the same detailing near the hem.

She completed the look with a perfectly styled white gele, delivering a modern yet distinctly traditional bridal aesthetic that fit seamlessly into the evening’s celebratory theme. Beyond the lead stars, guests also embraced the brief with elaborate custom traditional looks, and statement accessories that turned the venue into what felt less like a film event and more like an elite wedding reception.
