Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Lola Ashiru, has advocated for the location of the proposed Kwara State University of Education in Oro in Irepodun Local Government Council.

The state government has set up a committee led by the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem, to work out the modalities that will usher in the new university of education in the state.

Ashiru, in a chat with journalists in Offa, stated that establishing the university in Oro would reduce the cost of putting infrastructures on the new site.

He said that the College of Education in Oro has all the necessary infrastructures that would assist the proposed university to take off without any problem.

“I was very happy when Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq came up with the idea because it’ll go a long way in bridging the educational and human resources deficit we are grappling with.

“Kwara is mature enough to own even more universities because education is key to our developmental dreams.

“While all the three senatorial districts are eminently qualified to host the proposed University of Education, I will advocate for it to be sited in the College of Education, Oro, Irepodun LG. Because they already have all the needed infrastructure to support the establishment.”
