There has been a remarkable upset in Adamawa State’s political landscape as Aishatu Binani, the senator representing Adamawa Central, coasts comfortably ahead of some big wigs to win the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to results of the primary released yesterday, Senator Binani, the only female aspirant in the race, easily defeated Nuhu Ribadu, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Jibrilla Bindow, former governor of the state.

Binani had 430 votes to coast, far ahead of Bindow who polled 103 votes and Ribadu who got 288 votes, and with this she will now square with other gubernatorial contestants, including the incumbent governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintiri in next year’s election.

Gov. Fintiri, who is seeking a second term, on Wednesday, won the gubernatorial primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
