The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, led by its Grand Patron, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, at the weekend donated campaign vehicles and other mobilisation equipment to its structures in Yobe and Taraba states to drive grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu.
The movement, which launched its mobilisation campaign in Damaturu and Jalingo, said the vehicles would be deployed for door-to-door, ward-to-ward and community-level campaigns ahead of the presidential election.
Tompolo, who was represented at the two events by the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, Kester Pondi, said Tinubu’s economic reforms were already producing results, but required more time to consolidate before their full benefits could be realised.
Speaking at the launch in Damaturu, Yobe State, he said the reforms had increased the resources available to state governments and enabled them to undertake more projects and meet their obligations to workers.
“President Bola Tinubu’s policies have been wonderful. They have helped our governors to have more money for projects. They have put more money in the states than ever before. Today, your state governors have money to execute projects, your governors don’t owe salaries and pensions and that is because of the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu which are yielding results,” he said.
Tompolo likened the reforms to the rehabilitation of a road, arguing that although the process could be difficult, the benefits would become evident once the work was completed.
He said some of the gains were already visible in areas including local government autonomy and improved revenue to the states, urging Nigerians to allow the administration more time to consolidate the reforms.
“We are telling you that if you want these reforms which have made local government autonomy and steady salary payment possible to be consolidated, you must vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. Reelect the president for continuous reforms that will stand the test of time,” he said.
In Taraba, where the movement donated 25 campaign vehicles, generators and electronic speakers, Tompolo similarly urged residents to support Tinubu for another term, arguing that continuity was necessary for the reforms to mature.
“Taraba is thriving because President Tinubu has good reformation policies that are moving the state forward. If we want those policies to continue and be more solid, to consolidate on them, we need to give the president another four years,” he said.
He added that continuity would ensure that workers continued to receive their salaries as and when due and provide Governor Agbu Kefas with greater opportunity to develop the state.
Tompolo also cited the reduction in fuel queues and disruptions to university education among developments he attributed to the administration, while acknowledging that economic reforms inevitably came with challenges.
“Every policy needs time to consolidate; every policy needs time to show dividends. Every policy reformation will always come with its own challenges, but once we bear a little and they pass, we will go to the smooth road we are to ride on,” he said.
In his remarks, Kefas, who spoke at the Taraba launch, said residents of the state were already seeing the impact of the federal government’s policies through projects being executed in the state, insisting that the administration was working in line with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Taraba is ready. You don’t need to tell the people of Taraba State what the President is doing; they are seeing what the President is doing through me,” the governor said.
He added: “We are moving forward with the mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President and by the grace of God we are going to go to all the units, the wards and be flagging off projects and commissioning projects, not telling empty stories.”
In Yobe, Governor Mai Mala Buni, who doubles as Deputy Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, commended the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement for its grassroots mobilisation efforts, saying the organisation was making the campaign work easier for the state.
Buni, who was represented by his deputy, Idi Gubana, said Yobe had already positioned itself firmly behind Tinubu, with the campaign machinery restructured from the state level down to the wards.
“There is no need to campaign for the APC in Yobe as the state is 100 per cent behind President Bola Tinubu,” he said, assuring the movement of victory for the president.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Asuku, urged supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation and resist what he described as attempts by opposition politicians to mislead Nigerians.
Asuku said the movement would take its campaign to homes, streets, farms, settlements, wards and polling units, while urging voters to examine the records of opposition politicians before deciding who to support in 2027. “ There is no vacancy in Aso Rock Villa, Aso Rock is for President Tinubu,” he said.
He also attributed improved infrastructure and increased resources available to state governments to the Tinubu administration’s reforms, urging Nigerians to give the president more time to consolidate them.
“He has done a lot and we must give him more time to do more so that we can continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy,” Asuku said.
