Waliyah Set to Release New Singles Soon
Nigerian-born, UK-based pop and Afropop singer and songwriter, Waliyah Music has continued to carve out a distinct lane in Afropop, pairing refined songwriting with records designed to resonate across African and international audiences.
Her single, ‘It’s Time’ marked an important creative moment in her catalogue. The song drew inspiration from classic pop records and Olympic-style anthems, reflecting themes of perseverance, unity, and forward motion. Around this period, Waliyah received direct feedback and encouragement from legendary producer Quincy Jones during Grammy Week in Los Angeles, where he offered music advice and urged her to continue pushing forward in her career.
‘It’s Time’ also received positive feedback from Grammy-winning producer Patrick Leonard, known for his work with Madonna and Natasha Bedingfield. Leonard reached out privately after hearing the record, noting its inspiration and musical direction, which aligns with the style of songs he produced during his work with Madonna. While they did not collaborate on the track, the exchange served as a notable affirmation of her creative direction.
In 2024, Waliyah released ‘Detty December’, a record that has steadily gained traction during Nigeria’s festive season. The song has since developed into a recurring nightlife and celebration anthem, resurfacing each December across clubs and social spaces and reinforcing its cultural relevance.
Building on this momentum, Waliyah is preparing to release a new single titled ‘Body’ before the end of the first quarter. Early previews have already sparked interest, with the track recently sampled in a popular Lagos nightclub. Its chorus, “Move Your Body,” has shown immediate connection with listeners and points toward a more dance-driven phase in her evolving sound.
Beyond music, Waliyah maintains an active career in strategy consulting and global advisory work, a background that informs her disciplined, intentional approach to her artistry and long-term brand building.
With ‘Body’ on the horizon, Waliyah Music continues to position herself as an artist to watch, measured, focused, and steadily building a catalogue with cultural staying power.
