‎‎Cassona Marks 3rd Anniversary, Unveils Bold Plan to Transform Healthcare in Nigeria

‎Cassona Global Imaging Ltd has officially launched its medical imaging programme and diagnostic equipment in Nigeria as it marked its third anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to revolutionising healthcare delivery across the country and Sub-Saharan Africa.

‎The milestone event, held in Lagos, drew top health stakeholders including the Abia State Commissioner for Health and Health Justice, Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, and the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Kemi Ogunyemi.

‎Cassona’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. John Chigbu, said the company’s mission is to lower the cost of healthcare delivery by financing medical equipment, training professionals on their use, and ensuring long-term maintenance to prevent downtime.

“We bring equipment at more affordable rates. You pay 20 percent upfront and spread the balance over 24 months, while we maintain it so it never fails. We will also train doctors, radiologists, sonographers and provide backup power systems to keep equipment running during power cuts”, Chigbu said.

‎He noted that many African doctors are trained theoretically and lack hands-on experience with modern machines, which Cassona aims to change through structured training and continuous support. The company has also begun building diagnostic centres and fast-tracked hospitals to help private practitioners deliver quality care without the heavy financial burden of acquiring equipment outright.

‎Having first tested its model in Ghana, Chigbu said Cassona has installed over 140 machines in three years without a single breakdown, a feat he attributes to strict maintenance systems and trust in healthcare providers’ professionalism.

‎“Healthcare is not charity — it’s a business. You can’t talk about infrastructure without health and education. They are the foundation,” he added.

‎Commending the company, Prof. Uche described Cassona as “a phenomenon” and urged greater public-private partnerships to accelerate universal healthcare in Nigeria.

“They’ve reached over 130 centres across West Africa in just three years. This is the icing on the cake. Abia State under Dr. Alex Otti is driving a healthcare revolution, and we want to partner with people like Cassona to make healthcare accessible and affordable”, he said.

‎He added that Abia has recently functionalized 50 primary healthcare centres in two weeks, and expressed pride that Dr. Chigbu, the firm’s founder, hails from the state.

‎Also speaking, Mrs. Ogunyemi said Lagos State is keen on partnerships with innovative players like Cassona to support its THEMES Plus health agenda.

“They take the stress out of buying and managing equipment by providing training, parts, and maintenance in one package. Those are the kinds of partnerships we want,” she said. “We know government alone cannot do it, and our goal is to ensure Lagosians get access to quality, affordable healthcare.”

‎She added that such collaborations will ensure better diagnostics, better treatment outcomes, and improved trust in the public health system.

‎Cassona reiterated its commitment to serving as a catalyst for private sector-led healthcare investment in Africa, noting that it is not seeking monopoly but working to open the space for more innovation-driven players.
