Gunmen Abduct Unidentified Driver in Awka

Gunmen operating in an SUV yesterday abducted an unidentified man, who was reportedly returning from taking his kids to school.

The incident which happened around Okpuno area in the morning caused panic as the men shot indiscriminately into the air before fleeing the scene with their victim.

The incident caused pandemonium as passers by ran helter-skelter to avoid being cause up in the shooting.

Meanwhile, Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of one person at the scene, saying that it has activated operations to apprehend the armed hoodlums involved and also rescue the victim.

In a statement by the state Police Command’s Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command assured that the victim would be rescued.

He said, “The abduction of an unsuspecting member of the public in the early hours of today, 27th June 2025 at Awka as captured in a trending video is unfortunate .

“The three armedmen operating in a stainless coloured Highlander without a plate number shot indiscriminately and abducted the victim.

“The command has assured that its operatives shall leave no stone unturned in making sure that the victim is rescued alive,” Ikenga said.
