Kaodili Cares to Host Spelling Bee in PortHarcourt
A non-governmental organisation, Kaodili Cares Foundation, has announced the 12th edition of its Garden City Spelling Bee competition.
The founder and convener of Kaodili Cares Foundation, Mrs Ifeoma Egbuonu, made this known through a communique to pressmen on Wednesday.
According to Mrs Egbuonu, the four-day event scheduled for 11th to 14th, March, 2025, is tagged ‘Empowering young minds through words’, and will be held in Port Harcourt City.
The Kaodili Cares boss noted that the Garden City Spelling Bee is an annual event dedicated to promoting literacy, vocabulary development, and public speaking skills among young learners.
She further noted that the 11th edition, held in May 2024, was a highly competitive contest among primary schools in Rivers State, impacting thousands of pupils and nurturing a lifelong passion for learning.
Mrs Egbuonu added that the Garden City Spelling Bee is a tradition of excellence and that this year’s edition promises to be bigger, better, and more exciting than ever.
“Over the years, we have seen how this competition transforms young learners, boosting their confidence and opening doors to greater academic achievements.This competition has long been a platform for primary pupils across Rivers State to showcase their spelling prowess, helping them to build not just linguistic abilities but also confidence, discipline, and a love for words,” she said.
She further said that, for this year’s edition of the spelling bee competition, pupils from various schools will compete for the coveted title of Spelling Champion, exhibiting their talents in an exhilarating contest.
Egbuonu added that a panel of linguistic and educational experts and judges will ensure the contest is fair and thrilling, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.
The Kaodili Cares boss stated that winners who would emerge from the competition would be rewarded with cash prizes, trophies, medals, educational materials, and other valuable prizes.
“The event will be streamed live on YouTube, allowing a wider audience to enjoy the action from anywhere in the world,” she added.
