A young girl of about 14 years old was feared killed by stray bullet in Ojota area of Lagos where Yoruba Nation agitators attempted to hold a mega rally Saturday.
Policemen men deployed in the area to prevent the agitators from staging the rally had earlier fired teargas and released water cannon to disperse the agitators, who were gradually approaching the Gani Fawehinmi Park, venue of the rally.
The young girl, who was yet to be identified, was said to be selling soft drinks in a nearby shop around the Gani Fawehinmi, Freedom park, venue of the planned rally when she was hit by stray bullet.
An eyewitness account in a video circulating on social media said, “She didn’t go outside. She was selling in the shop when police started shooting, and she tried to run away but was hit by a stray bullet. It was a stray bullet from the police that killed her.”
