Fubara Mourns Former SSS DG, Albert Horsfall, Hails Legacies of National Service

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), Chief Albert K. Horsfall, describing him as a patriot whose contributions to Nigeria’s national security remain a benchmark for future generations.

Horsfall, who hailed from Buguma in Rivers State, was a Director-General of the State Security Service, where he was recognised for his role in Nigeria’s security architecture.

In a condolence message, yesterday, Fubara described Horsfall, a distinguished son of Rivers State, as a disciplined and intelligent public servant, who served the country with dedication, professionalism and integrity.

The governor said the former SSS Director-General was not only an accomplished security officer but also an elder statesman, mentor and ambassador of the values of service, honour and excellence associated with Rivers State.

According to Fubara, Horsfall’s death had deprived the country of “a patriot, a bridge-builder, and a man of integrity,” while his record in the security sector would continue to serve as an example to those entrusted with safeguarding the nation.

“Chief Horsfall was a patriot, a disciplinarian, and an embodiment of quiet strength and intelligence. As DG SSS, he served Nigeria with utmost dedication, professionalism, and integrity,” the governor said.

He added that Horsfall’s contributions to national security and stability had established a standard that would remain relevant to those who followed in his footsteps.

“We have lost a patriot, a bridge-builder, and a man of integrity,” he said.
