President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, and other key stakeholders are expected to headline the 19th Annual Banking and Finance Conference of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).

The organisers also disclosed that the World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Mr. Matthew Verghis, will deliver the keynote address at the conference scheduled to hold in Abuja, with virtual participation from across Nigeria and around the world.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos yesterday, the President and Chairman of Council, CIBN, Dr. Dele Alabi, said the theme was timely given the growing geopolitical, technological and economic disruptions confronting the global financial system. He said the conference would provide a platform for stakeholders to examine the challenges and opportunities facing the banking industry while developing practical solutions to strengthen the economy.

According to him, “As the global economy continues to navigate technological disruption, geopolitical uncertainties, evolving customer expectations, cyber security risks, and climate-related challenges, resilience has become the defining attribute of successful financial systems and economies.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Consultative Committee on the CIBN 19th Annual Banking and Finance Conference, Mr. Moruf Oseni, said the event would provide a platform for stakeholders to develop practical responses to the challenges confronting the financial services industry.
