Jeweler Urges Local Artisans to Embrace Luxury Branding, Business Innovation for Global Pricing Competitiveness
US-based Nigerian luxury jeweller, Michael Oni, has canvasses the need for local jewelers to embrace luxury branding and business innovation to attract commensurate product pricing in a highly competitive global jewelry industry.
He explained that although many African jewelery brands are capable of competing internationally, embracing luxury branding while maintaining their authentic African identity will earn local artisans their pride of place in the global jewelry market.
He made these submissions on the sidelines of his company, Quila Jeweler’s collaboration with Nigerian-American National Football League player Davison Igbinosun marked with the the crafting of a custom piece for the footballer.
The collaboration marks another significant moment for the jeweler, whose brand has continued to gain recognition for combining luxury craftsmanship with celebrity culture and African excellence on the global stage.
Speaking on the collaboration, Oni described the opportunity to create a customised piece for the NFL player as a reflection of the growing connection between African creatives and globally recognised athletes.
“We are proud to celebrate excellence through luxury craftsmanship. Creating a custom piece for Davison Igbinosun is a huge moment for our brand because it reflects how African-owned luxury businesses are gaining international relevance,” he said.
The brand had previously attracted attention following Oni’s partnership discussions with international business strategist– JT Foxx– a development that further strengthened conversations around luxury branding and business innovation involving Nigerian entrepreneurs.
