DIVINE COMMUNICATION, NCDMB Kick Off 3-Week Fashion Design, Bag Making Training for 50 Akwa Ibom Youths
DIVINE COMMUNICATION LTD has commenced a three-week intensive training program on fashion design and bag making for 50 women in Akwa Ibom State, in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board [NCDMB].
The training, which kicked off this week, is aimed at equipping young people with practical skills in fashion and leather goods production to enhance employability and promote entrepreneurship under the Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development initiative.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, representatives of DIVINE COMMUNICATION LTD said the program was designed to bridge the skills gap in the local fashion and accessories industry.
Participants will be trained in pattern making, garment construction, bag design, and the use of modern sewing equipment.
Each trainee will also receive starter packs upon completion to help them launch their businesses immediately.
“This program is about creating opportunities and giving our youths the tools to be self-reliant,” a company representative stated.
“Beyond skills, we are building capacity that will contribute to the local economy and reduce reliance on imported fashion and leather goods.”
The 50 selected participants, drawn from across Akwa Ibom State, will undergo both theoretical and hands-on sessions facilitated by experienced trainers in the fashion and leather goods sector.
The curriculum also covers business management, branding, and marketing to ensure beneficiaries can run sustainable ventures.
Participants expressed excitement about the opportunity, describing it as a life-changing platform to gain skills and start their own businesses.
The training will run for three weeks in Uyo, with sessions on design, production, and business development, culminating in an exhibition of finished products and certificate presentation.
DIVINE COMMUNICATION LTD said it expects the program to produce skilled designers and entrepreneurs who will contribute to the growth of Akwa Ibom’s creative industry and the broader Nigerian economy.
