Eterna Plc has announced the roll out of self-service fuel terminals across its retail network, marking a practical step forward in the company’s drive to digitize fuel retail and improve service delivery.
Powered by smart automation technology from Fuelmetrics Limited, the terminals enable motorists to authorise and pay for fuel using cards and digital vouchers, a development that will enhance transparency, reduce wait times, minimise cash handling, and deliver a more seamless station experience.

Speaking in Lagos during a live demonstration of how the self-service technology works, Managing Director of Fuelmetrics Limited, Olayide Folorunso, noted that the collaboration reflected a shared commitment to leveraging technology to simplify fuel management and deliver a more seamless experience for everyday Nigerians. He added that partnering with Eterna would enable Fuelmetrics Limited to scale the impact across the country, reinforcing the strength of Nigerian home-grown innovation in transforming the downstream sector.

Commenting on the deployment, Managing Director/CEO, Eterna Plc, Olumide Adeosun said: “The milestone reinforces our commitment to digitising our operations, enhancing customer experience, and improving efficiency across our network. The rollout is a strategic move aligned with the evolving expectations of today’s consumers.”

By combining Eterna’s retail footprint with Fuelmetrics Limited’s technical expertise, the rollout is a clear shift toward a more efficient, transparent, and data-driven fueling environment. It is also an important step toward the “retail station of the future,” where secure digital payments and automation support smarter supply and demand management, Adeosun further said.

The solution also addresses long-standing operational challenges within the downstream sector, including queue management, payment transparency, and human error. For corporate fleet operators, the platform provides real-time transaction tracking and automated reporting, helping businesses reduce cash leakages and maintain stronger control over fuel expenses, Adeosun added.
