The management of TheLink News Media Limited (RC No. 8407347), a digital news platform has announced a strategic rebranding and leadership evolution aimed at strengthening the organisation’s local, regional, and global footprint while deepening its commitment to journalistic excellence.

The development forms part of a broader corporate restructuring designed to reposition the media organisation for digital innovation, audience growth, and sustainable impact within Nigeria’s evolving media landscape and beyond.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the management noted that as part of the transition, Taofikat Morayo Nwabufo has assumed the role of Publisher and short-term Executive Editor, overseeing business operations, digital strategy, and priority news desks.

She will drive strategic editorial direction, digital-first execution, newsroom quality assurance, audience development, and monetisation readiness.

Mrs. Nwabufo is a seasoned business, communications, and digital transformation leader with nearly two decades of cross-industry experience. Her professional expertise now underpins her ownership and executive oversight of TheLink News Media Limited, alongside its sister entities, TheLink Digital and TheLink Consulting.

TheLink News was co-launched in September 2022 as a public-interest digital newspaper committed to bridging the gap between governance and the citizenry. From inception, the platform was shaped by the vision and pioneering contributions of its founders and publishers, including Mrs. Nwabufo, with Fredrick Nwabufo serving at the time as Chief Executive Officer.

The organisation’s core editorial identity was established on the principle of being “foregrounded in probity, impartiality, and objectivity.”

According to the statement, the current evolution builds on this foundation while integrating new perspectives informed by global media trends and digital innovation.
Digital Rebranding and Domain Transition
In line with its expanding regional and international reach, TheLink News has completed a rebranding of its digital presence to enhance global accessibility.
“ While its legacy domain, www.thelinkng.ng, remains a proprietary asset of the organisation, the platform’s new official global domain is www.thelinkng.co. The transition to the .co extension is described as a deliberate step to ensure that the organisation’s reporting on Nigeria’s socio-political and governance issues resonates more widely with regional and international audiences.

The management has therefore urged all digital repositories, reference platforms, and traditional media outlets to update their records to fully reflect TheLink News Media’s rebranding, leadership structure, and domain transition, as detailed on the organisation’s official About Us page.
Clarification on Ownership and Leadership’

“ The management also addressed what it described as inaccuracies and misleading entries currently circulating on various digital encyclopedias, including Grokipedia and Wikipedia, regarding the establishment, ownership, and executive leadership of the organisation.

The statement added that TheLink News Media Limited was co-launched in September 2022, not established by a single individual.

Taofikat Morayo Nwabufo is the current Publisher and Executive Editor and the sole owner of the organisation.

“Fredrick Nwabufo, who previously served as Chief Executive Officer, is no longer in that role and has moved on to pursue other professional endeavours.
Any information identifying him as the current publisher or owner is outdated and factually incorrect.

“The management reaffirmed that TheLink News remains steadfast in its mission of “linking you with the truth.” The organisation continues to prioritise verifiable facts, in-depth analysis, and rigorous reporting on governance, accountability, and citizens’ rights within Nigeria and the global community” The statement added.
