‘Aviation Industry Would Benefit from Seamless EASA Certifications’

The Chief Executive Officer of Braniz and Lloyds Aviation, Brienze Lawrence, has said that Nigeria’s aviation industry would experience exponential growth if more professionals had seamless access to acquire the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) certifications.

Lawrence, who spoke during the visit of a delegation from Plane Care Academy in Nigeria, stressed the need for increased standardization of service to improve service provision across different experience touch points within the aviation industry.

The team from Plane Care Academy visited the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos; Aero Contractors; Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Abuja; Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Abuja, Nile University, Abuja and the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Remarking on the need to improve service delivery in the aviation industry, Lawrence said that recent events in Nigeria’s aviation industry call for introspection and also a genuine action to improve the overall passenger and operational experience at the airports, on board and in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overall (MRO) services.

“There is still a lot of capacity gaps that need to be filled in the aviation space. We have aviation schools in Nigeria, but there is need to create some handshake which allows our people to acquire international certifications that can make them valuable and employable wherever they choose to work. This is what we are attempting to solve with the partnership with Plane Care Academy. The big picture is to train at least 15,000 young people in in-demand aviation career paths in the next five years. We have started already.”

The CEO of Place Care Academy, Viktor Mihaylov, on his part, noted that there was enormous opportunity that comes with acquiring international certifications seamlessly, which is why the company is working with B & L Aviation to make aviation training more accessible.

He added: “We are happy to partner with the stakeholders in the country on this move. We already provide such services across Europe and would want to work with the team here to bring the amazing opportunity of acquiring the EASA certification here to make the local talent more competitive on the global stage.”
