“How Prayer Shaped My Journey as an Author”

By Bisola Temiloluwa Onifade

My journey as an author began long before I ever imagined publishing a book. It started in the quiet moments of prayer where God met me with clarity, comfort and direction. Prayer became the place where my identity was shaped and where I learned to listen with intention. I did not set out to become a writer. I simply wanted to obey the gentle instructions that came during those encounters.

My first book Breaking Every Yoke was born from a season of deep spiritual reflection. It came from a desire to help people recognise the areas of their lives where they needed freedom and to guide them toward the healing power of God. Writing it taught me discipline and vulnerability. It also showed me that my words could become a tool for transformation in the lives of others.

My second book The Encounters grew from the same place of prayer. It is a collection of reflections and teachings drawn from real moments where God interrupted my ordinary days with insight and peace. Each chapter carries a lesson from a personal encounter with God and invites readers to recognise His presence in their own lives. Writing it deepened my understanding of ministry and reminded me that encounters are not rare events. They are woven into everyday life.

Beyond writing I have had the privilege of teaching and leading prayer in physical gatherings and through digital platforms like TikTok and Facebook. These moments remind me that people everywhere are searching for hope and spiritual grounding. If my words can offer strength or clarity then I consider it a gift.

My desire is simple. I want readers to know that God is closer than they think. My writing is not about presenting myself as an expert but as someone who has seen the faithfulness of God and wants others to experience the same. As I continue to write and minister my prayer is that my work will draw people into deeper intimacy with God and inspire them to recognise His presence in their own stories.
