LSW Unveils 2025 Theme to Celebrate 10th Anniversary

Prime Startups, organisers of one of Nigeria’s most influential events for the Nigerian Startup ecosystem, Lagos Startup Week, has announced the theme for the 2025 event; ‘Disrupting the Next Decade’.

The event which kicks off on Thursday, July 10th at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island Lagos, will also celebrate the tenth edition of the frontline startup programme in Africa.

Speaking at the media parley held at UNDP Innovation Centre in Ikoyi yesterday to unveil the theme and plans towards the 10th edition of LSW25, Partner at Prime Startups, Olumide Olayinka, said the Lagos Startup Week 2025, with the theme: ‘DND – Disrupting the Next Decade’, would serve as a timely moment to reflect on the story.

According to him, “Prime Startups has continued to lead the charge, ensuring that African innovation not only gets discovered but also grows into a formidable global force, building the future of Africa, one scaled company at a time.

“Our journey over the last ten years has been about more than just finding promising startups; it’s about moulding them into resilient, market-leading companies.”

Olayinka stressed further said: “We get excited about the innovative idea, but we are passionate about the commercial success that follows because that’s where true, sustainable impact lies. Every job created, every market expanded, every dollar raised, is a testament to the sheer potential of African entrepreneurship and our unwavering commitment to helping it thrive.”

The philosophy, according to him, “Is deeply embedded in Prime Startups’ DNA, drives our year-round founder support, cross-border partnerships, and strategic policy engagement. Their focus is on building robust operations, facilitating access to wider markets, and ensuring financial viability to attract serious investment and create lasting value. Mr. Sinari Daranijo, Member of the Board of Trustees, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), emphasized the government’s crucial role in this growth, highlighting how the ripple effect of scaled companies across different verticals profoundly impacts job creation.”

These businesses foster sustainable careers—from customer service to operations—empowering thousands of young Africans and significantly contributing to national and regional GDPs, embodying inclusive growth.

Also speaking at the media parley, Head of Marketing at Carbon, Nnena Onyewuchi, highlighted Carbon’s strategic partnership and commitment to empowering African businesses.

Other key stakeholders who lent their voices included Country Manager for inDrive, Dimeji Timothy, and Lead of Women Who Launch and a founding member of Lagos Startup Week, Isioma Utomi.
