Yoruba Progressive Council Congratulates Idowu Ajanaku on Appointment as Ondo Commissioner
The Yoruba Progressive Council (YPC), a leading civil society organization, has congratulated Mr. Idowu Ajanaku on his confirmation as a commissioner in the Ondo State Executive Council.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement personally signed by the National Coordinator of the YPC, Comrade Abe Kolawole, on Friday.
Kolawole said the appointment of Ajanaku as commissioner by Governor Aiyedatiwa was not only appropriate but also a deliberate attempt to bring experienced hands into the administration to move the state forward.
He described the appointment as well-deserved, given Ajanaku’s track record of service and significant experience in journalism, research development, social mobilization, and community engagement.
Ajanaku, who previously served as Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to a former Lagos State governor, was among the 15 commissioner-nominees cleared by the Ondo State House of Assembly on Wednesday.
Other nominees confirmed alongside Ajanaku include Sunday Olajide, Amidu Takuro, Olaolu Akindolire, Igbekele Ajibefun, Seun Osamaye, Adewale Akinlosotu, Ayodele Akande, Tob Loko, Johnson Alabi, Segun Omoyofunmi, Bola Ademuwagun, Leye Akinola, Banji Ajaka, and Adesoji Afolabi.
However, Ayorinde Olawoye, another nominee, was absent during the screening exercise. The Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, announced that Olawoye would be confirmed at a later date.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had initially forwarded a list of 12 commissioner-designates to the Assembly for screening on June 13, later adding four more nominees for confirmation into the State Executive Council.
Presenting its report during plenary, the Assembly’s Selection Committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker Ololade Gbegudu, affirmed that all nominees were found competent and experienced, having undergone rigorous screening.
In a unanimous decision, the House confirmed the commissioner-nominees, with Speaker Oladiji urging them to collaborate effectively with Governor Aiyedatiwa to enhance governance and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Ondo State.
Meanwhile, the YPC described Ajanaku’s appointment as well-deserved, praising his wealth of experience and commitment to public service. The group expressed optimism that his presence in the Executive Council would contribute significantly to the development of the state.
