Life’s Beginning Foundation (LBF), a non- governmental foundation, is set to raise N50 million to support 10 families with assisted fertility options in an effort aimed at raising public consciousness about infertility.
Speaking at the launch of the organisation in Lagos, Co-founder of Life’s Beginning Foundation, Mrs. Ame Okwudi, said the initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in the field of fertility support.
“We understand what it means firsthand to desire to have children, and to this end, we are thrilled to embark on this journey with such a dedicated and passionate community, looking forward to helping as many persons and families as we can.”
“Together, we will continue to strive towards our mission of providing hope, support, and guidance to all those facing fertility challenges. That is why this fundraising is so significant to the work we are doing to support families who are having challenges with infertility.”
Providing an overview of the programme, Member of the board of directors, Dr. Deji West , said the fund would help support 10 families through conception and delivery.
He shared that the founders’ personal experiences with infertility drive their resolve to bring hope and smiles to many, as every couple deserves a chance to start a family.
According to him, “Our mission is to provide support, resources, and education to individuals facing fertility challenges. I waited for a number of years and so we are there to help couples with necessary intervention they need.”
Explaining modalities of benefitting from the fund, Consultant Gynaecologist and Medical Director, Origene Fertility, Dr. Babatunde Ogunkinle, said interested Nigerians should approach the foundation.
“There are criteria we will look at because funds are limited. The selection criteria will be those with low hanging fruit so that we can accommodate a lot of people. The10 is our first year target but if we are able to raise N100m in the next three months alot of people will be accommidated. So people should approach the foundation”, he said.
