The Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as party stakeholders have resolved to challenge the outcome of election results in the South East.

The Secretary, APC Directorates of Agro and Commodities, Mr. Retson Tedheke, while addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, said the ruling party should make every move to reclaim its stolen mandates, even if it means setting up a committee from the existing PCC to review what transpired during the elections.

He said while the opposition who lost elections in most parts of the country have continued to raise false alarm that the elections were rigged, the silence on the part of the ruling party striving to hold on to the value of true democracy and also play by rules of engagement, gives reasons for concern.

His words: “I must admit that it is really disturbing to see that nobody is speaking for our candidates who were outrightly rigged out through votes suppression, intimidation of voters and obvious manipulation of election results, especially our women who have sacrificed so much for the party and gave their best to it during the campaigns.”

“As you all know, concerned stakeholders in the region have finalized modalities to challenge the outcome of elections in the south East, especially in Abia State where candidates who contested on the platform of Labour Party are still running from pillar to pole to validate the credibility of their membership in Labour Party even after elections have been concluded. This is one fraud too many.”

Tedheke stressed that in the next few weeks, the APC campaign would detail some of the shocking irregularities, abuses and fraud that it had uncovered with concrete evidence during the presidential and National Assembly elections.

He said the most outstanding case in view was that of House of Representatives Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, representing Isikwato/Umunneochi federal constituency.

The APC campaign alleged that there was clear evidence of electoral infractions which he said had been compiled to validate their claims to challenge the results of Isiukwuato-Umunneochi Federal Constituency election of February 25.

The campaign described the election of the Isiukwuato/ Umunneochi Federal Constituency as a sham and charade and if allowed to stand, would have thwarted the resolve of the majority of the people of the constituency and set a bad precedent for future elections.

Tedheke noted that Onyejeocha has so far approached the Court to challenge what members of her constituency have termed robbery hatched against her.

According to him, We maintain that the Leadership of the APC at all levels rise to the occasion to retrieve her mandate and that of many others who contested on the platform but were robbed of their mandates through widespread malpractices, vote suppression and falsification of results as witnessed in the South East.
