The Executive Director, Policy Attention, Ayoola Omole, has said Nigeria is in dire need of leadership that is strong, inspired, disciplined, focused and deliberate.

He stated this recently during a lecture delivered at the 2024 Social Science Students Association Public Lecture/Symposium, University of Jos, Plateau State.

Omole also called for the empowerment of institutions to educate emerging leaders on Nigeria’s fundamental issues.

He said: “We need leaders everywhere (whether in political offices or otherwise). The quality and quantity of leaders available in any country is proportional to the progress it makes. We need leaders that are passionate about Nigeria. We need leaders who take responsibility for Nigeria. Leaders to enforce discipline.

“Discipline (on a broad scale) has set the developed nations apart as they are able to muster the discipline required to implement desirable policies. Discipline also ensures adherence to laid down procedures, processes and routines.

“There can be no development without enterprise, hence we need a strong and focused political leadership to create an environment for enterprises to thrive.

“We need such political leadership for a consistent fiscal, monetary and foreign exchange policy environment and most importantly structural reforms in the power, energy, agriculture, trade and industry sectors.”
