Ondo Guber: PDP Holds Primary Today, Sets Up 7-member Panel

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has scheduled its Ondo State governorship primary to hold today, April 25 2024

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) also  set up a seven-member Governorship Primary Election Committee to be chaired by the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Senator  Ewhrudjakpo Oborawhartevwo.

This was contained in a statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja, yesterday.

According to Ologunagba, “The NWC of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of our party, has appointed the following underlisted members of our party to serve on the Ondo State Governorship Primary Electoral Committee;

“…to conduct the Governorship Primary Election for the purpose of nominating the candidate of our great party for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State. The exercise is scheduled to hold at International Culture and Event Centre, The Dome, Akure, Ondo State.

“Other members of the committee are  Hon. Oluwole Busayo Oke, Rt. Hon. Muktar Ahmed, Haj. Hassana Diko, John Mathew, Hon. Nnena Ikondon and Hon. Dare Adeleke, Secretary.”

A statement by the State Publicity Secretary of party, Kennedy Peretei, said a total of 627 Delegates from the 18 council areas of the state were expected to elect the standard bearer of the party for the 2024 governorship election.

The party has also adopted direct mode of primary for the election of its candidate ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo.

He said aspirants cleared by the Senator Sam Egwu Screening Committee to participate in the primary election included former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi; former Secretary General of Yoruba Social Political Organisation, Afenifere, Chief Olusola Ebiseni; a member of the House of Representatives, Kolade Akinjo; Adeolu Akinwunmi, John Mafo, Otunba Benson Akingboye (Oba) and Arebuwa Bosun.
