The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) indigenous contractors’ forum has commended the commitment of Governor of Delta State,  Sheriff Oborevwori, for meeting his campaign promises to invest in critical infrastructures

Speaking with journalists in Warri, the chairman of the forum, Mr. Ogie Samson, described the governor’s moves so far as a deliberate and aggressive effort to catalyse investment across the state and build new infrastructure that would attract more investors.

Samson stressed that despite the challenges facing businesses and investments in the country, Governor Oborevwori’s administration has been serving as an enabler for them to remain in business.

He noted that the governor’s “MORE Agenda” is gradually becoming a reality with several infrastructural projects ongoing and others slated for takeoff.

“Looking at the government activities in the state and relationship between indigenous contractors’ forum and DESOPADEC’S board then we need to appreciate His Excellency, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for positive efforts so far for indigenes who are contractors.

“This development, with contractors going to site and other ministries working, coupled with the past projects facing speedy completion, it is a clear fact that the “MORE Agenda” of Oborevwori means more positive development for all Deltans.

“We understand the political struggles among political leaders in the state, but we also believe that the good of the masses are major priorities to every good political stakeholder and leaders,” he added.

Samson, therefore, appealed to political leaders and Deltans generally to continue with the good initiative of assisting Governor Oborevwori to power the state to greater heights.

He decried the recent killings of soldiers, indigenes and burning down of villages and pleaded with parties involved to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign in the state.

He noted that it was only in an atmosphere of peace that development would come to Delta State and solicited for peaceful co-existence amongst the various ethnic groups in the state.
