Imo Police Hunts for Killers of Inspector, Lawyer

Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the Command’s Special Tactical Squad  to hunt down the killers of a Police Inspector and an Imo-based legal practitioner at two different locations.

The Police Inspector was reportedly killed when unknown gunmen  attacked a Correctional Service Farm Settlements at  Umualomoke, Okigwe, and the residence of Senator Patrick Ndubeze, who represents  Imo North at the National Assembly also  in Okigwe, in the early hours of yesterday.

In a statement, the Imo Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Henry Okoye, stated that beside the death of a Police Inspector, the attack also resulted in the release of seven (7) inmates, and abduction of the officer in charge of the correctional services farm settlement.

In a related development, the lawyer, Victor Onwubiko, who was  resident in Uturu, Abia State, was  reportedly killed along the Okigwe-Uturu road around 9pm on Saturday while returning to the campus of Abia State University, Uturu, where he lived.

Okoye, the Imo  Police Command’s spokesman told newsmen that  law enforcement agents were “on top of the situation” and that a press statement would be issued soon by the command.

The Imo Police boss urged the general public who might have any useful information that would assist the operatives in arresting the hoodlums responsible for the attacks to report at the nearest Police Station.

He also charged the people of Imo State to go about their lawful business without any form of fear as the command was on top of the situation and had placed adequate security measures to forestall future occurrences.
