The Sokoto State Governorship Candidate of the PDP in the March 18 election, Mallam Saidu Umar, has congratulated the Governor of Sokoto State, Rt Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on his official declaration as the winner of the Sokoto South Senatorial Election.
He described the hard-earned victory as a sign of positive perspectives for the party, adding that history has been made. He chided the All Progressives Congress in the state which was in cohort with other external actors that worked against the emergence of Gov. Tambuwal in the election.
Describing Tambuwal as his leader, Umar said: “The constituents of Sokoto South Senatorial District have opted for quality representation thereby shaming the forces who were bent on drawing the constituency to dishonour”.
He further explained that what transpired Saturday was the exact definition of what happened on March 18 during the Governorship and State House of Assembly election. He commended the PDP supporters for their resilience and for maintaining orderliness and resisting intimidation.
Umar also congratulated the other victorious PDP candidates in the House of Representatives election – Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, Bashir Gorau, and Umar Yusuf Yabo – who had just been returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission, saying that its a clarion call for them to serve their people.
He also commended other Candidates of the party who fought well during the concluded supplementary polls but were not announced as the winners. He implored them to study the process of the exercise thoroughly as that can help them in the next course of action.
