Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo yesterday continued his impressive form for club and country as he inspired

Glasgow Rangers to a 3-0 win against Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership yesterday as the Ibrox side made it four wins from four under new boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Ibrox Stadium.

The Nigeria international played in the middle of the park while Super Eagles invitee, Calvin Bassey continuing his role as a central defender in the absence of the recuperating Leon Balogun.

Rangers headed into the game on the back of three consecutive wins against Sparta Prague, Livingston and Hibernian.

Aribo gave his side the lead when his shot found the back of the net thanks to a deflection from Liam Fontaine nine minutes before halftime.

The Super Eagles star forced an own goal in the 55th minute as Ryan Sweeney knocked a cross from the Nigerian past his own goalkeeper, and Alfredo Morelos ended the game as a contest when he grabbed Rangers’ third goal in the 70th minute.

Aribo was applauded by the Rangers faithful as he was leaving the pitch to be replaced by Bacuna with nine minutes left on the clock.

Rangers have moved seven points clear of second placed Celtic after their win against Dundee.

The Super Eagles midfielder scored the winner when these sides met at Dens Park and he showed his quick feet to get away from the Dundee defence and aimed a shot that found its way into the back of the net after a deflection off Liam Fontaine.

It was Aribo’s second goal in his last three matches and his fifth of the season for the Gers.

The 25-year-old is evidently in peak form heading into the last few weeks that precede the Africa Cup of Nations and could be crucial to the Super Eagles’ continental title hopes.

Aribo’s performance would delight head coach Gernot Rohr who needs goals to be spread across his team with injured star striker Victor Osimhen likely to miss the Afcon.
