Segun Arinze Shines in Blackout, Showing in Cinemas October 29

Abbey Abimbola’s Blackout, an action-packed film, will hit cinemas nationwide on Friday October 29 this year, with Segun Arinze bringing in his ace game.

Produced by Aarmproductions and Blue Pictures Entertainment in collaboration with K Titanium Pictures Son BHD, Blackout aims to remind the government of its responsibility to Nigerians, uninterrupted electricity supply as seen in neighbouring and foreign nations.

For Abimbola, popularly known as Crackydon, the movie was informed by the lingering issue Nigerians are fazed with over lack of electricity.

He emphasised: “I didn’t make the movie just for money, but to expose the ills in the country. So, coming out with a story like this, I will be glad if I get support for the movie.”

Indeed, Nigerians have continued to register their plights and displeasure over poor power supply for decades, a message the film tries to pass. Although the plot in Blackout shows how two groups rip each other apart over conflicting interests, it is an illusive representation of the struggle for a better life.

“I’m not here to criticise the government,” he clarified, “No, I’m only using Blackout to remind them of the basic duties they owe the citizenry.”

Blackout is an intriguing film, away from the usual Nollywood movies. With more foreign actors from Malaysia and a few Nigerians like Arinze featuring in the high-budget movie, Crackydon urged film enthusiasts to go see Blackout.
