APPOEMN to Host Event Industry Conference in Lagos

The Association of Professional Party Organisers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN) is set to host The Event Industry Conference (TEIC) this October in Lagos State.

The conference, which will run from October 21 to 22 and 24, is on the theme “The New Dawn”. It aims to empower event planners and organisers with best practices while helping them cope with the new normal introduced by COVID-19.

The President of APPOEMN, Mrs. Adefunke Kuyoro, told newsmen during a media parley in Lagos that TEIC will also educate Nigerians, especially event planners and party organisers on how to effectively uphold safety and health protocols in planning and organising events.

“The realities of the new normal brought by COVID-19 are here with us. And things can no longer be done as usual, but life and business must go on,” says Kuyoro.

While lamenting that the industry is one of the worst affected due to the pandemic, the president said the conference would focus on the welfare and empowerment of their members towards organising successful events.

She, however, called for more collaborations among event stakeholders across the country, highlighting that they need each other. “We are one. That is why we are doing the conference. You cannot fly alone. You need each other. You need people to grow.”

Echoing the words of the president, the Chairman, Organising Committee TEIC, Gbemisola Ope, said they were reviving the event industry after COVID-19 disrupted events throughout last year.

Some of the activities lined up for the three days event include the Master Class where various professional speakers will treat subjects on mental health, business, and legal among others.

According to Ope, there will also be a mini exhibition from various sectors and free medical check-up followed by an after-party which has a Soul-train theme.

While day two will be for training and certifying members and their staff in First Aid, the conference will wrap up with Dinner and Awards, which is on the theme Futuristic.

As an event powered by APPOEMN, an association of seasoned event professionals that have been at the forefront of event planning and coordination in Nigeria for 15 years, event industry stakeholders are encouraged to continue to build, keep moving and doing things the right way.
