Eid-El-Kabir: Enugu CP Assures Residents of  Adequate Security

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, has assured residents in the state of adequate protection of lives and property during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

A statement made available to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, ASP. Daniel Ndukwe, said that the assurance was in line with the order of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP. Usman Alkali Baba, to beef up security during and beyond the festive period.

The commissioner, according to the statement, has in line with the directive ordered the area commanders, divisional police officers and heads of tactical and operational units of the command to deploy all operational resources at their disposal.

He also charged them to further collaborate with other security agencies to intensify the existing proactive and confidence-building policing strategies already in place in the command.

“He further tasks them to adequately supervise their subordinates and ensure they conduct themselves in the most professional manner, whilst ensuring maximum crime prevention and order at security flashpoints, including major highways, streets, public places of worship and convenience, markets, as well as sites of critical public infrastructures within their areas of responsibility” the statement read.

Aliyu also felicitated with Muslims in the state and urged them to celebrate responsibly, amid the confirmation of the ‘most transmissible’ Delta variant of the COVID-19 pandemic disease in the country.

He tasked them to use the period of the celebration to reflect and pray for the security and peace of the state and the country.

He also charged residents in the state to remain law-abiding, vigilant and promptly report suspected criminals and their activities to the nearest police station.
