President Muhammad Buhari has said that the federal government is determined to combat gender-based violence in the country through the instrumentality of the law.
The president, who made this known in a nation wide broadcast to mark the 2020 Democracy Day Saturday, stated that: “I wish to assure all our women of this administration’s determination to fight gender-based violence through the instrumentality of the law and awareness creation. I am particularly upset at recent incidents of rape especially of very young girls.”
According to him, the police are pursuing all cases with a view to bringing perpetrators of the heinous crimes to swift justice.
