The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has said that it is satisfied with the level of compliance by churches with the COVID-19 protocols on the first day of the reopening of worship centres.

A statement issued on Sunday by the Media Assistant to the CAN President, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, said that many worshipers observed the health advisory provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
He said that use of sanitizers, soap and water, social distancing and one hour service were all observed. Churches screened the worshippers before entering into the sanctuary.

“Reports on today’s worship in FCT

It wasn’t funny but FCT Churches made it. Some mega churches like Dunamis; First Baptist Church, Garki; New Estate Baptist Church; and COZA ran multiple services.

“From our contacts, all churches followed the NCDC and FCT Guidelines to letters. We give glory to God. Sanitizers, soap and water, social distancing and one hour service were all observed. Churches screened the worshippers before entering into the sanctuary. Sunday School hour suspended.

The statement said that CAN President, Rev Dr Samson Ayokunle, appreciated the full support and understanding of church leaders and Christians nationwide.

CAN however said that many worshippers were yearning for an extension of the worship hours to at least 90 minutes if not 2 hours.
