- Alarm twisted to cover up facts, says APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has said it has uncovered moves by people suspected to be members of a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use improvised explosive device (IED) popularly known as dynamite to blow up investments belonging to the state Chairman of PDP, Felix Obuah.
In a statement issued wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Special Adviser to Obuah, Jerry Needam, specifically accused members of the APC loyal to the Ojukaye Flag Amachree-led faction of plotting to bomb Obuah’s property around the Go-Round Community in Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state. He said first on the list of targets of the plotters is the multi-billion naira Krisdera Hotels, located in Omoku.
The statement also said: “Information available also reveals a conspiracy between these satanic agents and some paid security agents to provide the necessary cover while they carry out the attack.
“Mercenaries from among notorious gangsters operating in various parts of the state and outside have also been contracted and paid heavily for the destruction exercise.
“The plot was uncovered when the masterminds whose names will be made public soon approached one of the hatchet men for the sinister job, not knowing that he had already withdrawn from such evil and who pensively divulged all the plans with striking evidence and particulars of the plotters.
“Shockingly, the devil incarnates also planned to fly a kite after carrying out their plot, alleging that the unholy mission was masterminded by aggrieved ‘boys’ of Obuah in protest against using and dumping them.”
Needam emphasised that Obuah has consistently denied having any link with any kind ‘boys’ or by whatever name called, and challenged anybody with evidence of his relationship with any criminal gang to come up with such evidence.
“It is against this backdrop that the leadership of the PDP in Rivers State wishes to notify the state government, security agencies, the public and the international community of the grand plot by the state APC to set the state on fire just in a bid to take a misdirected pound of flesh on an innocent man who invested in the state to provide employment to thousands of jobless Rivers youths,” he said.
Obuah’s aide warned the suspected plotters to be cautious and desist from any actions that would not be in the interest of the state. “With detailed information and particulars of some of these plotters in the kitty, which will be made public accordingly, it is only wise for all those involved in this devilish plot to thread the path of caution.
“We therefore make bold to warn all those behind this murderous intention and those already consulted and contracted for its execution to desist forthwith and give peace a chance as the repercussion of such attempt may be colossal,” he said.
But in its reaction, the APC said the PDP was only twisting facts to cover up revolt by thugs the party used and abandoned.
The state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Chris Finebone, said in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday that the PDP was only crying wolf to divert attention from upcoming revolt within the party.
