Oba Fredrick Akinruntan’s Words on Marble

His Royal Majesty, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, is one of the richest and most flamboyant traditional rulers in the country.

Besides, he is outspoken and never shies away from saying things the way it is without minding whose ox is gored. For some inexplicable reasons, many cannot fathom his seeming silence in recent time.

But their fears, even if misplaced, may now be put to rest as the colourful King, who is also the Chairman of Obat Petroleum, ‘resurfaced’ in grand style, last Monday, when he was honoured with an award at the Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria (TEEIN) in Lagos.

Obateru was presented with the award of ‘Distinguished Excellence in Enterprise Creation and Philanthropy’ by the President of TEEIN, Bola Adeboye. In his remark at the award night, he preached the gospel of patience to Nigeria youths.

Also, in what he described as his independence goodwill message to the youth, he literally went on a voyage around oil business that he started with a paltry sum of N2, 000 and a loan of N40, 000 he obtained from a bank.

“A lot of countries had experienced what we are experiencing today and they are okay now. I am very convinced that Nigeria will be great in the nearest future. For the youths, I would advise you to tread softly in life and be focused,” he was quoted to have said on the occasion.
