Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has said Nigerians “will not regret” if they vote President Muhammadu Buhari into office for a second term next year.

Bello said reelecting President Buhari would mean Nigerians appreciated the tremendous efforts the government had put into the drive for the revival of the national economy, fight against insurgency and corruption among others.

The governor was speaking in his Kontagora country home when he received on solidarity visit prominent people from the emirate weekend.

Bello said the Buhari administration had also given Nigerians opportunity to speak with loud voice in the international community, adding that unlike in the past Nigerians “are now respected all over the world”.

He therefore urged Nigerians to join hands with the Buhari administration to ensure the government delivered more dividends of democracy to Nigerians, adding that “we should all make up our minds to vote massively for him and the APC come 2019 election” and ignore the negative campaign by the opposition.

The governor said the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors declared their support for Buhari to achieve continuity in government and to sustain “his good works”.

Bello however declared that “If President Muhammadu Buhari refused to contest in 2019, there will be problem in solving the enormous challenges facing the country because he has shown that he is truthful, fair and just in administering the nation”:

He appreciated the visit by the people and their call on him to re-contest come 2019, saying that their request had strengthened his desire to provide more dividends of democracy to the electorate.

He however assured that his administration would complete all ongoing projects in Kontagora town this year. Among the projects he said were the rehabilitation of the Kontagora Dam construction of the School of Nursing in the area, the Civil Defense School and renovation of schools.

The Coordinator and one time Commissioner for Works in the state, Alhaji Muazu Bawa Rijau in his remarks said the people were satisfied with the achievements of the governor in the last three years; hence their decision to call on him to contest for a second term.

Aside from “the brilliant performance of the governor” Bawa Rijau said the two other zones in the state served their two tenures, adding that Niger North’s case should not be an exemption.
