Between Omisore And Adeleke

“No permanent friend or enemy in politics, but permanent interest’’ goes a popular axiom.  Interestingly, this is what is currently playing out in Osun State, if the information reaching Spy Glass is anything to go by.
Those in the know revealed that politics is tearing apart the friendship between Senator Iyiola Omisore and Senator Ademola Adeleke over their individual governorship ambition.
It was also gathered that both are now engaging in mudslinging to win the soul of their party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the governorship election scheduled to hold on September 22 draws near.
Last week, it was rumoured that Adeleke had been picked as the party’s preferred candidate and that Omisore had stepped down “in principle” based on “negotiation”.
But before the rumour could spread further, the Ile-Ife, Osun State-born billionaire refuted it, claiming that his gubernatorial ambition remains intact.  He added that it was a ploy to undermine his “political integrity.”
In a swift reaction, a source said: “Nobody would have expected things to fall apart so soon between the two PDP stalwarts based on Omisore’s participation in his victory just a year ago. I think it is too early for Senator Adeleke to betray the former deputy considering his role in his journey to the Senate.”
In a chat with Spy Glass, another source expressed a contrary opinion, saying, “Omisore has no business to vie for the number one job of Osun State. He should throw his weight behind anybody that the party picks. Omisore has assumed the position of a godfather and he should see himself as such.’’
