Stakeholders in the public service have expressed divergent views on the desirability of the new Contributory Pension Scheme Bill before the Kwara State House of Assembly for passage into law.
The affected stakeholders made their views known while participating in a technical session organised by the House of Assembly on Wednesday on the Contributory Pension Scheme bill.
In their own contribution, the organised labour as well as pensioners in the state said the proposed law would further impoverish workers if passed into law.

The unions added that pensioners under the current arrangement were being owed up to N12 billion by the state government and without any move to effect the payment.
The state Head of Service, Hajia Zahra Omar, in her submission enumerated the preparatory steps so far taken by the government to ensure that the state key into the new pension scheme, saying that the state government was committed to ensuring prompt payment of its monthly 10 per cent contribution to the scheme to further enhance the wellbeing of pensioners in the state.
