Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS Delta) yesterday said it did not lose any of its officers in any form of accident penultimate week.
The Base Information Officer, Lieutenant N. Lamu told THISDAY in an interview that media reports last Sunday which claimed that the Navy lost an officer was incorrect.
Lieutenant Lamu told THISDAY in an interview in Warri, Delta State on Saturday.
The deceased officer was reported to have died at the Base jetty at about 7 pm when he arrived back at the base after he had led a patrol team against some militants in the creeks of Warri South West Local Government area of Delta State.
But the Base Information Officer clarified that no such incident occurred in the Base and took THISDAY on tour of the jetty where it was observed that there was no dangling rail that could have led to the death of any personnel.
“We are always careful with the way we carry out our assignment here. The welfare and safety of our officers are paramount and so no such incident occurred here. We take extreme precaution in the execution of our duty”, he assured.
