Don Faults  Buhari for Foreign Medical Trip Estimated at £6m

A senior lecturer at the department of Political Science, University of Ilorin, Dr. Lukman Saka, has mocked the recent travel of President Muhammadu Buhari to the United Kingdom for medical treatment of one of his ears.

He said that the money used for that foreign medical trip could have been used to developed the nation’s health infrastructure.

A source close to the presidency told THISDAY that the cost of the trip which includes aviation fuel, accommodation, allowances ‎of aides and medical treatment would cost £6 million.

The special adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, had on Sunday announced that Buhari would be travelling to the United Kingdom for medical attention for his ear problem.

The trip would take 10 days before the president would come back while the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, would be acting as president.

Speaking with journalists  in Ilorin on Wednesday on the state of the nation, Dr. Saka said: “This is the government that had been canvassing for ‎the blockage of wastages in the art of governance and now he is using public fund to fund his foreign medical trip”.
