The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled its primary election for June 18 to choose the party’s candidate for the Edo governorship election.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso who made this known to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday said that governorship nomination forms will be sold at N5 million while intending aspirants are expected to pay N500,000 to pick expression of interest form.
“In line with the Electoral Act and the party guidelines as well as interface with the INEC timetable, the party has approved the timetable for the governorship primaries in Edo state.
The governorship primary election will hold in Benin City on Saturday, June 18. The Election Appeal Committee will hold its sittings between Monday, June 20 and June 23,” he said.
On the crisis presently rocking the Edo state chapter of APC, Izunaso expressed optimism that the disagreement between the state governor and his deputy would have been amicably resolved before the commencement of the primaries.
