Nigerian Sinotrucks, Sterling Bank Seal Strategic Partnership to Expand Vehicle Ownership, Advance Mobility Solutions

Nigerian Sinotrucks Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with Sterling Bank Limited to widen access to vehicle ownership and advance integrated mobility and financial solutions in Nigeria, in a collaboration both organisations say will create new opportunities for individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses.
The agreement, formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), underscores a shared ambition to address one of the major constraints in the mobility market: access to appropriate financing for vehicle acquisition.
Anchored on the theme, “From Partnership to Progress: Advancing Integrated Mobility and Financial Solutions”, the collaboration brings together Nigerian Sinotrucks Limited’s commercial vehicle expertise and market presence with Sterling Bank’s financial capabilities to create a more accessible vehicle ownership proposition.
For Nigerian Sinotrucks Limited, the partnership represents another significant step in its broader ambition to deepen its footprint in Nigeria’s automotive and transportation ecosystem, while making its vehicle solutions more accessible to a wider customer base.
The company, which is wholly Nigerian-owned and was incorporated in 2012, is a Federal Government-recognised vehicle manufacturer and assembler, as well as an authorised distributor of Sinotruk products in Nigeria. It received Federal Government recognition as a vehicle assembler in January 2015.
Its portfolio spans heavy-duty commercial vehicles, including HOWO tractor heads, dump trucks, tippers, cargo trucks, tankers and other specialised vehicles. The company has also expanded its alternative-energy offerings, with CNG and LNG-powered trucks, alongside its recent introduction of Sitrak electric commercial trucks into the Nigerian market.
This evolving product offering reflects the company’s determination to respond to changing demands in the transportation industry, particularly as businesses seek more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable ways to move goods and manage logistics operations.
The partnership with Sterling Bank is expected to complement this ambition by bringing financing more directly into the vehicle acquisition process, helping to address the capital constraints that can prevent individuals and businesses from investing in the vehicles they need.
Speaking on the significance of the agreement, the Managing Director of Nigerian Sinotrucks Limited, Alfred Okugbeni, said the collaboration was driven by the company’s determination to go beyond vehicle supply and provide solutions that respond to the broader needs of customers.
“At Nigerian Sinotrucks, we understand that access to reliable vehicles is only one part of the mobility equation. Access to appropriate financing is equally important. Our partnership with Sterling Bank is a deliberate effort to bridge that gap and create greater opportunities for individuals and businesses to acquire the vehicles they need to grow.
“We believe that when mobility and finance work together, the benefits extend beyond vehicle ownership. They translate into stronger businesses, improved logistics, greater productivity and wider economic opportunities,” he said.
For Sterling Bank, the agreement reinforces its commitment to using strategic partnerships to deliver financial solutions that address real economic needs, with transportation and mobility forming an important part of that agenda.
A representative of the bank said the collaboration reflects the importance of bringing financial institutions and mobility providers together to create solutions that are practical, accessible and responsive to customers’ needs.
According to the representative, the partnership provides an opportunity to connect customers seeking vehicle ownership with financial solutions that can support their aspirations, while contributing to a more efficient transportation ecosystem.
The agreement also builds on Nigerian Sinotrucks Limited’s broader customer-support proposition, which extends beyond vehicle sales to include after-sales services, maintenance, genuine spare parts and technical training for drivers and mechanics.
These capabilities are particularly important in commercial transportation, where vehicle reliability, maintenance support and operational efficiency have direct implications for business performance.
Industry observers have increasingly pointed to the need for stronger collaboration between vehicle distributors, financial institutions and other mobility stakeholders to address the high cost of vehicle acquisition and improve access to transportation assets.
Against this backdrop, the Nigerian Sinotrucks-Sterling Bank partnership represents a practical approach to connecting vehicle solutions with financial accessibility, with the potential to support businesses across logistics, manufacturing, distribution, construction and other sectors dependent on transportation.
The signing ceremony was marked by the exchange of duly executed copies of the agreement, followed by a handshake between representatives of both organisations and a brief celebratory moment, symbolising the formal commencement of the collaboration.
More than a ceremonial milestone, the occasion represented a shared commitment to building a stronger mobility ecosystem in which financial access and reliable vehicle solutions work together to unlock progress.
For Nigerian Sinotrucks Limited, the partnership reinforces its position as a mobility solutions provider with ambitions that extend beyond the supply of commercial vehicles to supporting the wider transportation and automotive value chain.
As the collaboration takes shape, both organisations will be looking to translate the agreement into tangible customer benefits, expanded access to vehicle ownership and greater opportunities for businesses to move, grow and compete.
From partnership to progress, the message is clear: when mobility meets finance, progress moves forward.
According to the Managing Director, Nigerian Sinotrucks Limited, Alfred Okugbeni, ‘Nigerian Sinotrucks is not simply putting more vehicles on Nigerian roads; it is helping create the financial and mobility partnerships that make progress possible.’’
