Which Way set for an Afriff Screening this November

Some films travel the world before they find their way home. Which Way, a Lagos story told in English, Yoruba and Pidgin, has done exactly that.

Earlier this year, at the Portugal Indie Film Festival, the film won two awards: Best Director for Jide Okeke and Best Cinematography for Emmanuel Oputa. Now it returns to the city it was written about. On Tuesday 3 November, Which Way has its Africa premiere as an Official Selection of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), screening at 8pm at Filmhouse Cinemas, Landmark, Victoria Island.

For producer Jumafor Ajogwu, the founder of Leeds-based Bold Pictures, the Lagos premiere matters more than any other date in the film’s calendar. “Awards abroad are wonderful, but this film belongs to Lagos,”he says. “These are our streets, our languages, our families. I want the people who will recognise themselves in it to be the ones who see it first in Africa.”

Which Way follows Ladi, a mechanic in Lagos, his wife Beatrice and their teenage daughter Feyi, a family held together and torn apart by what none of them will say out loud. When Ladi’s sister Shewa returns with a secret from their childhood, the cracks begin to show. What the family cannot speak, they sing.

The film stars Floyd Igbo, Chidinma Nebo, Mariam Kayode and Onome Akpotebu, featuring Chimezie Imo, Olayiwola Razaq, Stan Nze, Ijeoma Grace Agu and Yemi Blaq. It was written by Temi Mattu and Jide Okeke, and produced by Jumafor Ajogwu and Ayo Alade, who also composed the original music.

Ajogwu has worked on some of the most talked-about Nigerian films of recent years, including Lionheart, The Milkmaid, Nigeria’s Oscar submission and most recently, My Father’s Shadow, which premiered at Cannes 2025 and won BAFTA 2026. With Bold Pictures he is now producing his own slate from the UK, built for audiences across the global African diaspora. Which Way is the company’s first feature.

“We made this film independently, with people who believed in it,”Ajogwu says. “To bring it home to AFRIFF, in front of a Lagos audience, is the moment we have been working towards.”

Bold Pictures presents Which Way in conjunction with Afribold Pictures Network and Future 6 Media. The film runs 113 minutes and is subtitled in English.
Which Way screens on Tuesday 3 November, 8pm, at Filmhouse Cinemas, Landmark, Victoria Island, as part of AFRIFF 2026.
