The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has declared its readiness to mobilise voters and deliver President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general election.
The APC’s position in Taraba State conflicts with the objective of the Rainbow Coalition, a multi-party platform sponsored by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to deliver victory for the APC only in the presidential election.
The state chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, gave the assurance during the inauguration of the state chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a campaign group established to mobilise grassroots support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in 2027.
Bawa said the APC had no doubt about its prospects in the state and assured the party leadership that its structures would work to deliver party candidates at all levels during the elections.
The declaration came as the movement commenced a door-to-door mobilisation campaign designed to take the APC’s message to households, communities, churches and mosques across the state.
Also speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign organisation in Taraba State, Hon. Danladi Baido, said the party would build on its performance in the 2023 presidential election.
Baido recalled that Taraba placed third among states in the North-east in the 2023 presidential election and said the state campaign organisation would again mobilise substantial support for the APC in 2027.
The founder and convener of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, better known as Tompolo, urged people of the state to support Tinubu for a second term, saying continuity was necessary to consolidate the administration’s reforms.
Tompolo argued that federal government policies needed time to produce lasting results, adding that another term for Tinubu would also give Governor Agbu Kefas an opportunity to continue implementing his development agenda in the state.
Governor Kefas, who backed the mobilisation drive, said the people of Taraba were already witnessing the impact of the Tinubu administration, through projects and programmes being implemented in the state.
“We are moving forward with the mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President,” Kefas said.
He assured the gathering that his administration would continue to execute and commission development projects across the state.
The national coordinator of the movement, Hon. Comrade Adekanbi Sunday Asuku, said the organisation had come to Taraba to seek voters’ support for Tinubu and Kefas.
Asuku urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation, saying the campaign would be taken from “door to door, church to church, mosque to mosque, home to home and local government to local government.”
He also attributed improved security in Taraba to the APC administrations’ efforts and called for continued support for the party.
