FoodCo Expands Network to 24 Outlets

Launches neighbourhood store in Ojoo, Ibadan**

Top retailer and one of Nigeria’s longest-running modern retail businesses, FoodCo, has opened a new store in Awakan, Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, bringing easy access to the hygiene standards, quality assurance and convenience of modern shopping to residents and surrounding communities.

The Awakan store brings the current number of FoodCo stores to 24, spread across Oyo, Lagos and Ogun States. It also features FoodCo’s signature integrated supermarket and quick service restaurant proposition, offering groceries, household products, fresh food, grill house and in-store bakery.

Speaking at the launch, Ade Sun-Basorun, FoodCo’s Chief Executive Officer, disclosed that the expansion into Awakan followed extensive research within the community to understand local shopping habits, product preferences and price expectations, ensuring that the outlet is well positioned to meet customers’ needs.

He said: “The opening of FoodCo’s latest store in Awakan represents another milestone in our growth journey and expands our network to 24 outlets. It affords us an opportunity to serve the emerging urban community and the wider Ojoo environs with the quality assurance and convenience of organized retail offerings.

“For us, expansion is never just about increasing store count. It is also about understanding the customers we serve and designing local FoodCo outlets to be responsive to the needs of their immediate communities. Our research in Awakan has helped us design an offering that makes shopping for everyday groceries, fresh food, bakery products and freshly prepared meals easy and convenient in one location.”

The new store will stock the award-winning and recently repackaged SunFresh Bread range, including the newly introduced Jumbo size variant, alongside FoodCo’s wider grocery and food-service offering.

Founded in 1982, FoodCo is a diversified consumer goods company with interests in retail, quick service restaurants, manufacturing and entertainment. The company operates the largest supermarket chain brand in Southwest Nigeria, with operations spread across Oyo, Lagos and Ogun states.
