Midas unveils new Afrobeat-Rap single ‘Never Give Up’, targets global music scene

Nigerian Afrobeat-Rap artiste, songwriter, entertainer and entrepreneur, Midas, popularly known as 100% Midas, has released a new single titled “Never Give Up” as he intensifies his push to establish a strong presence in the Nigerian and international music scenes.

The inspirational track, which fuses elements of Afrobeat and rap, is currently available across major digital music platforms and adds to the artiste’s growing catalogue of music centred on hope, perseverance and positive social values.

Midas, whose real name is Masheni Midas Efe, hails from Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas of Delta State. Born in Okumagba Layout, Warri, and raised around the Jakpa Road area of Effurun, Delta State, he is also a building engineer.

His passion for music developed at an early age, particularly through his involvement in playing drums and other musical instruments. He identifies legendary and contemporary artistes such as The Notorious B.I.G., Tuface, Nas and Jay-Z among his musical influences.

Over the years, Midas has developed a diverse musical identity, drawing inspiration from genres including Afrobeat, Afropop, R&B, rap, Christian jazz and country music.

His latest release follows a number of singles, including “100% Street,” “Hustle,” “Happy Birthday,” “Grace” and “Friday,” through which he has continued to showcase his versatility as a songwriter and recording artiste.

‘I Want to Take Nigerian Music Into a New Era’
Speaking about his musical ambition, Midas said his goal is to contribute to the growth and development of Nigerian music rather than compete with other artistes in the industry.

“My aim is to move Nigerian music as a country into a new era and not in competition with anyone in the music industry.”

The artiste also described music as a powerful platform for promoting positive social values, noting that his songs are intended to communicate messages of love, peace and unity.

“I strongly believe, as a musician, my duty is to use my music as a powerful tool capable of preaching love and peace, mending broken hearts, and bringing people together to make the world a beautiful place to live.”

According to Midas, his vision extends beyond entertainment to promoting a society where race, tribe, gender and social class do not determine how people are valued.

He said his music also carries messages of hope and reflects his belief that Nigeria’s creative industry can contribute significantly to economic development and attract investment.

“Every song of mine is a story of hope in the face of impossibility and can attract investors into the country. As a musician with an African context, my music stands for a philosophy richly engrained in the pursuit of placing humankind at the heart of humanity.”

Midas Announces Forthcoming EP
Looking ahead, Midas disclosed plans to release a forthcoming EP, which he said would explore themes including hustle, encouragement and lifestyle.

The artiste also revealed that he is currently working on another single featuring fellow artiste Shuun Bebe.

According to him, the forthcoming collaboration will retain elements of his Afrobeat sound and is expected to be released before the end of the year.

Eyes International Collaborations
As he continues to expand his musical horizons, Midas said he remains open to collaborations with leading artistes both within Nigeria and internationally.

Among the artistes he hopes to work with are Jay-Z, Victor AD, Erigga, Zlatan, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Tiwa Savage, Tems, Future and Nicki Minaj, among others.

Beyond musical talent, the artiste emphasised the importance of business knowledge and professional relationships in building a sustainable career in the entertainment industry.
