Gospel artiste Evans Ighodalo has described music as a powerful tool capable of shaping minds, inspiring positive change and guiding people towards moral and spiritual values.
Ighodalo, who has written more than 100 released and unreleased songs, said his creative process is driven by the desire to ensure that his lyrics impact listeners across generations.
“My core message is very clear. Every lyric I write is a word for the young and the old. I feel that beyond making great sound, anyone listening to my record should be transformed mentally and spiritually,” he said.
The artiste noted that while talent plays an important role in music, excellence, depth and effective delivery are what separate outstanding artistes from others.
For generations, music has served as a source of inspiration, comfort and education, with its influence extending beyond entertainment to social transformation, morality and spirituality.
Ighodalo has positioned his music within this tradition, using his songs to promote faith, peace, hope and positive values. Over the years, he has collaborated with artistes in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
His latest single, “Jesus Reigns,” reflects his commitment to using music as a platform to express devotion and redirect attention towards Jesus Christ as the supreme Creator worthy of worship.
According to him, the words people consume through music can influence their thoughts, actions and way of life, making it important for artistes to create content with purpose.
“Both of these factors affect people’s actions, way of living together both individually and collectively as a nation. Our development is highly dependent on the foundations of what we feed our minds with. Being someone who is highly family oriented, I know for sure that words are very powerful and affect everything we see and become,” he added.
In a world faced with conflicts, social challenges and divisions, Ighodalo believes music can help promote a different narrative centred on peace, faith, moral values and renewed hope.
Through his work, the singer continues to combine artistic excellence with a message of transformation, maintaining that music should not only entertain but also educate and inspire people to pursue a better path.
