Blogger urges Adeyemi to apologise to Gbajabiamila over bribery allegation

Nigerian content creator and blogger, MC Izzy, has called on Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi to apologise to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations that he collected a N400 million bribe, arguing that the claims have not been supported with credible evidence.

Speaking in a video posted on his social media platforms, MC Izzy said his position followed recent developments in the investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which invited Gbajabiamila for questioning.

According to the blogger, the Chief of Staff honoured the invitation, responded to questions from investigators and returned to his official duties after giving his statement.

He also referred to reports that Adeyemi, who accused Gbajabiamila of receiving the alleged N400 million bribe, was arrested after a Federal High Court in Abuja reportedly issued a warrant for his arrest over his failure to appear in court.

MC Izzy argued that anyone making such a serious allegation should be able to provide convincing proof.

“How can you say you gave somebody N400 million without any evidence, no receipt or any form of documentation?” he asked.

He questioned why there were no bank records, transaction details or any other evidence linking the payment to the Chief of Staff, insisting that such a substantial amount of money could not simply be transferred without leaving a trace.

The blogger said that even for far smaller financial transactions, people typically keep records or screenshots as proof, making the absence of evidence in a N400 million allegation difficult to understand.

“I can keep evidence of sending N200,000 or N2 million to someone. How then do you claim to have paid N400 million and have nothing to show?” he said.

MC Izzy also cautioned Nigerians against allowing personal or political sentiments to cloud their judgement when assessing allegations against public officials.

“We should not allow hatred for an individual to stop us from standing by the truth,” he said.

He maintained that after listening to different accounts of the controversy, he believes Adeyemi owes Gbajabiamila an apology unless he is able to present credible evidence to substantiate the allegation.

“I don’t know Gbajabiamila personally, but after weighing both sides of the story, I believe the truth must be told,” he added.

The content creator urged Nigerians to objectively assess the facts surrounding the matter rather than relying on speculation or emotions.

The bribery allegation has continued to attract public attention, with the ICPC investigating the claims following a directive from President Bola Tinubu. Gbajabiamila has consistently denied receiving any bribe, describing the allegation as false and unfounded, while the investigation remains ongoing.
