Rixel Studios has unveiled its latest feature film, ‘Black Market,’ a new Nollywood production starring Lateef Adedimeji and Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, with plans to make history through an ambitious Guinness World Records attempt.

The film, written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed and Fatimah Binta Gimsay, is the studio’s sophomore project following the release of ‘Red Circle’ in 2025. It is scheduled to premiere on September 26, 2026, at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

Speaking on the project, Rixel Studios’ Nora Awolowo said the production reflects the team’s determination to push creative boundaries while building on lessons from its previous outing.

“We are excited to go on this journey as a team and we have taken a lot of learnings from our previous film. As young filmmakers, one of our aims is to continue to creatively look for ways to innovate.”

In collaboration with Filmone Studios and Switch Visuals Production, the producers plan to host 50,000 people at the premiere in an official Guinness World Records attempt to surpass the current record of 43,000 people attending a film screening at a single location.

Chief Content Officer of Filmone Studios, Ladun Awobokun, described the initiative as an opportunity to make history while projecting Nollywood to a global audience.

“We are incredibly excited. This is more than a film project. It’s an opportunity to create history and showcase Nigerian creativity and Nollywood on a global stage,” she said.

Chief Executive Officer of Switch Visuals Production, Damilola Osikoya, said the project demonstrates what can be achieved when young creatives challenge convention through collaboration and innovation.

“There is nothing more inspiring to me than seeing young people challenge conventions and push the boundaries of innovation. This project is especially close to my heart because it represents what is possible when bold ideas meet determination and collaboration,” she said.

Shot in Abeokuta, ‘Black Market’ is directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay and stars Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Itele D Icon, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, Uzor Arukwe, Folagade Banks, Tomiwa Tegbe, Andrew Yaw Bunting, Shamz Garuba and Adeoluwa Akintoba.

Gimsay said the cast and crew were united by a shared vision to deliver an entertaining film.

“From Day One, we were determined to make a fun film and we made it with the best people. This was a great challenge for everyone and we can’t wait to share it with the world,” she concluded.
