ModulawAI unveils Autonomous AI Employees for legal practice

A new chapter in Africa’s legal technology space has begun as ModulawAI announced the launch of autonomous AI employees and an expanded suite of digital tools designed to help law firms manage their entire operations from a single platform.

The company said the latest release positions ModulawAI as the first unified legal operating system tailored specifically for African legal practice, combining artificial intelligence, practice management, communication tools, CRM systems, bookings, and workflow automation in one secure environment.

According to the legaltech company, the newly introduced autonomous AI employees are capable of handling tasks traditionally performed by junior lawyers, including legal research, drafting, document review, client intake, and matter routing with minimal supervision.

The platform disclosed that completed tasks are automatically attached to case files while notifications, billable hours, and audit trails are generated in real time, helping firms improve operational efficiency.

In addition to the AI employees, ModulawAI also introduced AI workflows, enabling law firms to automate recurring legal processes such as due diligence, contract review, intake screening, and transaction closing procedures.

The company further unveiled a new “Practice Groups” capability aimed at mid-sized and large law firms. The feature allows firms to structure operations according to departments such as litigation, corporate law, intellectual property, employment, and tax, while still maintaining centralized visibility across the organization.

As part of efforts to improve internal collaboration, ModulawAI launched TeamChat, an integrated communication feature that allows lawyers, associates, paralegals, and support staff to discuss matters directly within the platform instead of relying on external consumer messaging applications.

On client acquisition and engagement, the company introduced built-in CRM pipelines and consultation booking systems to help firms track potential clients from initial inquiries to signed retainers.

The platform also integrates email, WhatsApp, voice capabilities, and team calling systems, enabling lawyers to manage client communication directly within matter files.

Speaking on the development, Co- Founder of ModulawAI,Doyinmola Ogodo, described the innovation as a transformational moment for legal practice across the continent.

“This is the next level of legal practice. Give our AI employees the context and they handle the work a competent junior associate would; autonomously. Pair that with AI workflows for repeatable processes, practice groups for firm structure, and the daily tools African lawyers already use: TeamChat, email, WhatsApp, voice, CRM, and bookings,” he said.

He added, “A solo lawyer now has a ten-person firm in their pocket. A multi-partner firm finally has the operating system it has been forced to assemble itself. And we have not even started yet.”

The company also confirmed plans to launch a Microsoft Word agent that will allow autonomous legal drafting directly inside Microsoft Word, a tool widely used by legal professionals across Africa.

On security and compliance, ModulawAI stated that the platform was built to align with African data protection regulations, including Nigeria’s NDPR and South Africa’s POPIA, with features such as end-to-end encryption, role-based access, audit logging, and attorney-client privilege protections.

ModulawAI is currently available to solo practitioners and law firms across Africa, with onboarding now open through the company’s official website .
