BỌỌLỤ OGBE Unveils Another Exciting Tournament 45 yrs and Above

BỌỌLỤ OGBE has unveiled the 45 years and above tournament. The competition announced that the winner will go home with a prize of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000), while the runners-up will receive Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000).

Speaking during the unveiling, The Chairman of the Famous Coal City League BOOLU OGBE Domben Chisom said: “Today, we proudly unveil another exciting chapter, The BỌỌLỤ OGBE 45 and Above Tournament, proudly sponsored by NKC Global. This wonderful initiative stands today as a symbol of community football, unity, and togetherness in Enugu State and beyond.”

He further explained: “The introduction of the 45 and Above category is very special to us. It is not just about football, but also about reconnecting old teammates, celebrating football heritage, promoting healthy living, and bringing joy and entertainment to our communities.”

According to him: “I am also excited to announce that this competition will feature 12 participating teams, including:

Coal Camp Allstars, Ochialli FC, Riverlane Veterans, New Haven Allstars, Integrated Fitness Club FC Abakpa, Ngwo United Allstars, Okpara Square Allstars, Ugwuaji Allstars, Topland/Amechi Allstars, Great Allstars Uwani, Emene United, and Active Allstars.”

He stressed that all these teams are ready to showcase experience, passion, and the true spirit of community football.

Chisom excitedly said: “To make the competition even more exciting, the Champions will go home with a prize of One Million Naira (₦1,000,000), while the runners-up will receive Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000) courtesy of the title sponsor Chief NKC Justice.

Appreciating the sponsor, the LOC Chairman expressed gratitude: “On behalf of the Local Organising Committee and the entire BỌỌLỤ OGBE family, I sincerely appreciate Chief Dr. Nweke Kingsley Chizoba, Odaa Opuo 1 of Igboland, The NKC Global for believing in this vision and boldly supporting this laudable project. We would also like to extend special appreciation to the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his visionary leadership, and to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu Jr., for his continuous support for grassroots football and youth engagement.

BOOLU OGBE, as the name connotes, is a neighbourhood football tournament founded shortly after the End SARS protests in Nigeria. It was created as a platform to bring young people and community members together through football, promoting unity, peace, and positive engagement within neighbourhoods.

The opening match will hold on Monday, 16th March, at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, scheduled for 3:30 pm, featuring New Haven Allstars vs Emene United Allstars.

This will be followed by Riverlane Veterans vs Ugwuaji Allstars at 4:45 pm.
